Using A2L refrigerants in the refrigeration transportation industry can be challenging. A2L refrigerants require special handling that may be difficult for this application. Some of the largest transportation companies have integrated systems using R-513A refrigerant. The marine transport industry is moving to R-513A globally. R-513A is a non-flammable, low-toxicity refrigerant (A1), making it safer than A2L refrigerants for this application. It is not classified as A2L, so it does not require the special handling, charge limits, or ventilation considerations associated with mildly flammable refrigerants. Its combination of low GWP, non-flammability, and compatibility with R-134A systems makes it a widely adopted environmentally friendly alternative.

The technicians servicing these systems require the tools to measure and diagnose them. The YELLOW JACKET^® new 49953 and 49954 manifolds include R-513A, R-134A (A1 Refrigerants) and R-1234YF (A2L refrigerant) to provide the most complete manifold for the refrigeration transportation application.
